(the following was adapted from a forum post on bracesreview.com, as I did not have a blog post from Tray 1)...
Hello everyone! Just a bit about me... I had regular braces when I was a kid, for 2 1/2 years (age 10/11 to 13). I wore my retainer faithfully - until it stopped fitting! Being a silly high schooler who didn't know any better, I assumed if it stopped fitting, I didn't need it anymore. I didn't think that I should get a new one! SO, my teeth have shifted over the years and in August decided to look into Invisalign. I found a WONDERFUL orthodontist office and just got the trays Monday! I have eight attachments on the top and seven on the bottom (if I counted correctly). However, one attachment on the bottom came off after eating some Fritos, so I'll need to go in and get that fixed...
Anyway, I have 37 trays for the top and 19 for the bottom, though I'm sure I'll have refinements! And it's weird, one attachment comes on later on for a time and then comes off... on this one crooked tooth on the top.
How's it been so far? Doesn't make my teeth sore as much as I worried! I was fine about this whole thing until the day before my appointment, then started to get REALLY nervous! But it wasn't that bad.
I think the worst part is getting the darned things out to eat! I had trouble Monday night, didn't try Tuesday or Wednesday for lunch (AKA skipped lunch)... but managed to get them out Tuesday and Wednesday nights. Well, it's the bottom that was HORRIBLE to get out. Today, after managing to get it out yesterday in under 5 minutes, decided to give lunch a try at work. I was STUCK again! I was upset, frustrated, and finally called the ortho to go in. The assistant there was SO helpful and helped me figure out how to get it out! Now - it's SO much easier and quicker! I hope the same process of taking it off works on my next trays!
I'm looking forward to the changes and hope this works! And of COURSE I have learned my lesson about the retainer when this is all over. It's $6,500 lesson (not to mention the time, inconvenience, and effort!). But I think I'd rather have this than regular braces again!
