Today is my last day with Tray 2. Tonight I will change to Tray 3. Hope they're easier to put on than the ones I'm wearing now!
The last two weeks have been pretty good. I didn't wear them for 22 hours/day, with Thanksgiving and a few days of not rushing to brush my teeth and put the trays back in; but, I've worn them at least 20 hours if not the 22, so I think I'll be okay :)
Soreness: had some the first few days, but overall was fine the rest of the time except a couple of days were one of my top teeth hurt, for no apparent reason. I don't know if it was because I unconsciously pushed on the trays while sleeping, or if some movement started over a week into the tray. But it seems fine now.
I've noticed that plaque builds up in the tray closer to the end of the two week period. I've been trying to soak them in water (when at home) while I'm eating, then after brushing my teeth use a separate brush for the trays. Today I realized that the crusty white stuff builds up on the outside as well as the inside, so I thoroughly cleaned that today. I was looking the last couple of days online at Retainer Brite and cleaners (such as UV or sonic) to see the reviews and prices. At some point I may give in and get something to help clean these better. My thought is - I only wear them for two weeks, then it's on to the next one. But then again, they're in my mouth the majority of those two weeks, and they could probably stand to be cleaner - and sanitized! For now, I'll take a little extra time to make sure the trays are brushed well; but should probably get something to help in the near future.
I know it's only the end of Tray 2 - four weeks of Invisalign - but part of me was hoping to see at least SOME change by now! Oh well. I know eventually the changes will start to show, but it'd be nice to know it's working!
Anyway, that's all for now. Hope all you American readers had a wonderful Thanksgiving (I sure did! LOVE my boyfriend's fried turkey! And it was great seeing my family). And to you international readers, I hope you had a great weekend!
Until next time...
